The Glories of Console Gaming

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

While I am a PC gamer, I cannot deny the fact that consoles are pretty cool. I have played on a the majority of the more popular consoles as I mentioned in my other post about PC gaming, and so I still have quite a bit of experience with them but not as much as I wish that I did. But while PC’S have their benefits, they have their downfalls too, and that’s where consoles become the superior platform.

Consoles are platforms that are loved by many. Even though people argue as to what console is better on a regular basis, most console players can agree that consoles are a lot more simple than PC’s. They also tend to be more family friendly and give more opportunities to play with someone that is in the same room. And while they may only have one form and one way that they will work, they are still very nice if you don’t want to be stuck at a desk all day. But there are plenty more reasons as to why consoles are genuinely cool platforms.

One really nice thing about consoles is their price. While they can still get pretty expensive ranging from $400 to $500, that’s still a lot cheaper than a high end gaming PC. You can still get a gaming PC for under $500 dollars but chances are, it will not run as well as a $400 dollar console would. Plus, you don’t really have to worry about all the specifications and hardware that you would have to with a computer. You just pick up your preferred console, put in the disk and start playing. There is no concern about whether you will be able to run the game or not. Which certainly makes finding games to play a lot simpler and less time consuming.

Another nice thing about console gaming is the fact that it is a lot more family friendly and supportive of playing with friends that are with you. Just because you have to pay a fee to play with friends over the internet, does not mean that you cannot play with the people that are around you. Consoles are really good at this, it’s almost like they are made to bring people together in the same room so that they can have fun together. They are actually a lot better than PC’s in this regard because having separate controllers to play is a lot easier than having two separate keyboards. Also, there are hardly any computer games that involve you playing with someone in the same room, unlike consoles where there are several.

Overall, consoles are the better choice for someone that just wants to sit back, relax and play some games without really having to think too much about it. They can be mobile and are a lot more supportive of local play. And even though they are not necessarily customizable like PC’s, they still look very nice and fit in well in a living room.

Do you prefer PC’s or just want to know why PC’s are better than consoles in some areas? I also cover the benefits of PC gaming in my other post: PC Gaming: The Master Race.

Also, can you think of anything that I may have missed in this story that makes consoles superior? If you can, please let me know in the comments, I would love to hear your opinions and additions.
